An Analytical Study Of Alternative Energy Environmental Sciences Essay

In today ‘s modern culture, the great beyond of the planet and its assets are ever something that is in the heads of universe pioneers. The regular assets of the planet ca n't last everlastingly and arrangements are trying to be found. While a few states are on the way to a â€Å" greener † way, different states fall behind and are using up limited assets. Examining interchange energies could hold its advantages however some contention if its expense and different difficulties may exceed the advantages. Likewise with each new idea that becomes known, there are at least two sides and feelings of what is correct. One side is that non-sustainable dodo energizes are venturing out to stop and fresh starts of inexhaustible force request to be consolidated into today ‘s universe. In a book by David Craddock, Shane Jordan composes a prelude about interchange energies. He expresses that the universe has two alternative of where to travel following ( 12 ) . One choice has contamination, distress, and assets expiring, while different has clean skies and seas and a more splendid in the future. He contends that it is a huge assurance to do and believe the correct pick made. Assets are decreasing and fills that are utilized today are holding an outcome on the earth around us. He contends that individuals have been using up petroleum products with no regard for the impacts to come, as he calls attention to: planetary warming. In the past mature ages, individuals have been looking to change t he start of our vitality to something inexhaustible and non hurtful to nature. Fresh starts of vitality have been found and sustainable power sources are the fasted turning vitality starting today. Sustainable power source is simple renewed. Beginnings from nature like air current, sun oriented, tidal, and moving edges can be utilized to control things and are non destructive to the earth. With lifting expenses of petroleum derivatives, these fresh starts of interchange vitality are much all the more engaging. David Craddock contends that we are sing planetary vitality and contamination employments since we are so reliant on petroleum derivatives ( 16 ) . These energizes are more than 80 for each centum of the overall vitality ingestion. In the event that we had inexhaustible, interchange energies to use so there would be less reliance on things that we can ne'er get back again. He announces that when non-renewable energy sources are scorched, they discharge unpleasant synthetics into the air and air. This amendss individuals and the earth in the long count and it is as of now causing significant damage. He contends that it is non a request of if non-renewable energy sources wi ll run out, however when ( 17 ) . The new interchange vitality beginnings can be found about wherever. Sun based, H2O, and air current can be found on a very basic level wherever on the planet. Not at all like today ‘s vitality, where two tierces of oil are found in the Middle East and are able to oil intrusions. Sustainable power source is in high assumption to the open yet open functionaries and government officials are progressively watchful and dithering the brand the adjustment due to the expense related with it. Craddock states that sustainable power source costs have gone down and will proceed to intensify ( 19 ) . Especially with non-renewable energy sources devouring and their cost rise, exchange vitality, as sunlight based, air current, and H2O, is the reasonable and coherent choice. He even expresses that various beginnings have various expenses and advantages and one start might be better than the other ( 18-19 ) . While some dissent planetary warming, others have Numberss that may show who's boss the individuals who think it is a fantasy. â€Å" Before the mechanical transformation, the Earth ‘s climate contained 280 sections for each million of C dioxide. That was acceptable sum†¦ Once we begun discharging coal and gas and oil to control our lives, that 280 figure began to lift. At the point when we started mensurating in the late fiftiess, it had just arrived at the 315 degree. Presently it ‘s at 380, an expanding by roughly two sections for every million yearly † . Since some deny planetary warming and accept the beginnings of vitality we have now are good, this grounds shows that temperatures are lifting and there is more C dioxide in the atmosphere and ice on the Earth is runing which makes the H2O degrees lift, seasons, and precipitation structures ( McKibben 5 ) . Subsequently, heroes of substitute vitality see these Numberss and chase more distant for arrangemen ts and the persuade those contradicted to using interchange vitality. While some contention the expense of interchange vitality, the opposite side contends that the hardware to use the vitality is the expense and the existent vitality is free. Blending to McKibben, â€Å" The fiscal worth ticket for the planetary entry will be in the a large number of dollars. Of class, along the way it will make endless new occupations, and when it is finished, it might be a significantly more exquisite framework. † His point is that air current, Sun, and other normal assets are free and states ca n't order it or have it ( 5 ) . It is contended that in the long count, the cost will be less and it will keep going for any longer than non-renewable energy sources utilized today. As cited above, there will never again be fights over fills. In at various times, there are wars over oil and a portion of these issues could be settled if there were sustainable power sources to be utilized without worldwide exchanging or battle ( McKibben 5-6 ) . Despite the fact that petroleum products are non sustainable, their capacity is irrefutable. Normal beginnings ca n't compete with their ground-breaking faultlessness, however with greater turn of events, perfection could be conceivable. Some common beginnings, similar to air momentum, are only useable in certain nations. Yet, when they are utilized, they work great. Indeed, even in the previous 10 mature ages building for vitality has developed altogether. No issue the pick of what is made, the financial estimation of gasolene and vitality will go up and the impacts of either pick ca n't be given to the future coevalss ( Nersesian 382 ) . Since sustainable and substitute vitality is a colossal contention around to universe, a few states are following new ways and it has an effect on the planetary monetary framework. Asia has received new engineerings to pass on H2O to drier topographic focuses and deliver vitality from it ( Moeller 17 ) . With this delineation, different states are other than get bringing down to incorporate new things that will rescue vitality. The UK could be in front since they could hold zero C radiations by 2030. The plan is called Zero Carbon Britain 2030 and they would believe just on sustainable power sources like sun based, air current, and H2O ( Eisberg 12 ) .With this new idea and study, a few people for the acknowledgment of exchange vitality feel this is confident and it offers backing to their motivation. In spite of the fact that the UK is close to nothing, turn trip that other vitality beginnings could control the state shows that it is conceivable and inside range in the non unnecessa rily removed from now on. Regardless of whether or non it the new plan is received can be an imprint as to if the sustainable beginnings are efficacious and proficient. In any case, on the off chance that it is set in topographic point, it could get down different states into building up their ain program to hold zero C transmissions and lower the contamination from their state ( Eisberg 12 ) . Since the expense is an enormous segment of the what makes individuals against sustainable power source, doing a greater expense to foul and use petroleum derivatives could be a way to incite individuals to trade. Some believe that burdening C radiations. Be that as it may, if this occurred, it could be harmed on the other hand of help. People groups who are hapless would just obtain more unfortunate and there would require to be a way to figure out how to non make more mischief than anything ( McKibben 7 ) . McKibben other than expressed that perhaps income improvements on things that advantage individuals be cut, for example, finance checks and things that do n't benefit us be burdened, similar to C radiations ( 7 ) . This could other than pass on numerous employments and most essentially, would n't go over great with individuals or legislators ( McKibben 7-8 ) . On the opposite side of the other vitality contention are the individuals who figure individuals should stop with non-renewable energy sources. The main explanation against interchange and sustainable power source is the significant expense. Some contend that sunlight based vitality, for representation, is multiple times higher in cost than non-renewable energy sources. Robert L. Bradley Jr. contends that sustainable power source is twice every piece costly as petroleum products and multiple times increasingly costly as overabundance power, on standard. He other than contends that the sustainable power source advertise is other than non each piece competitory as dodo fills which may keep up money related estimations of exchange vitality beginnings high ( Bradley 1-5 ) . With worries over the money related estimation of new vitality beginnings, some offer contemplations for answers for bring down expenses. Fitting to Christopher Simon, â€Å" To abstain from lifting money related qualities, interest for non-renewable energy sources must be shortened and the improvement of achievable replacings energizes should rapidly proceed † ( 6 ) . With today ‘s coldblooded universe financial framework and cash framework, some accept that this will ne'er be conceivable. With the economical financial estimations of oil and other dodo fills contrasted and sustainable power sources, it appears to be unlikely that there could be an effective entry. Some state that while request makes flexibly, the interest is n't high bounty to contrast the expense with change the energizes utilized. Furthermore, that regardless of whether there were to be a planetary entry, the vitality made would n't have the option to cover the interest for vitality ( Simon 7-9 ) . The expense of substitute powers is the main worry of individuals when they find out about exchange vitality and it is non without ground. Jonathan Katz regions, â€Å" The essential test for a wide range of exchange vitality is cost, and in particular it ‘s cost relative to regular petroleum derivatives. There is an extensiveness of horticultural waste that could be changed over into biofuel, yet the expense of biofuel is more than oil based powers, so there is a constrained biofuel advertise. The equivalent can be said for civil waste, sun based vitality, air current force, etc†¦ .the processi

Classical Management Theory and Human Relations Theory

The systematic development of management thinking is viewed, generally, as spanning from the end of the nineteenth century with the emergence of large industrial organizations. Management theories consist of two group—classical management theory and human relations theory. In this essay, the nature of the â€Å"Classical† and â€Å"Human Relations† approaches to management will be described at first and then bring out the differences and similarities between them. The classical theory of management was formed in the early 20th century and based on a pyramid, formal structure. To be more precise, it puts an emphasis on technical requirements of the organisation, common principles as well as hierarchy of management. There are three well-established†¦show more content†¦In this sense, human relations theory is about humanization as technique. Finally, classical management theory avoided ‘informal groups’, but the human relations movement supported There is no denying that both theories exert profound influence of company’s management. For instance, McDonald Corporation takes the idea of classical management theory. Work force of McDonald Corporation is divided into different jobs. More exactly, probably divides employees up into chefs, people serving, people frying, people packing the burgers, and maybe some one on the drive through. That is to say, different people are now doing different things on the production line; therefore the worker become good at what they are doing, make production more efficient and little training needed. Yet at the mean time, many problems have arisen, the main reason for this is that the worker may becomes monotonous with what they are doing and have lower job satisfaction (which can lead to lower productivity) ,as well as they may eventfully be replaced by machinery. As for the theory of human relations, this can be best illustrated with the example of Tavistock Institute in London which undertook to study the work of coal miners. Technological Frontier Essays - Digital Media, Technology, Computing

Technological Frontier Technological Frontier America has been a country full of optimism, perseverance, and freedom of ideas and beliefs. The frontier- a mental or physical area where much remains to be done- is a belief that has and still propels and influences America today. The technological frontier is probably the most influenced by the frontier belief. There is always room for better in technology. The technological advancements in the past 50 years outnumber the amount advancements from the beginning of time up to 50 years ago. Technological advancements have made it easier to for humans to live and adapt to their universe. Technology has expanded exponentially from the beginning of time until the 90's. In the 90's technological advancements have taken off at a higher exponential rate. For every frontier that appears to be complete, a new frontier has opened up and is unsolved. The frontier consists of branches that have branches themselves, resembling a tree. The frontier is far from ending, if there is an ending. During this rapid technological advancement period where we are trying to fulfill that long-term, near perfect technology, there have been short-term constraints in technology that have and will continue to open new branches in technology. Engineers have been trained to discover new technologies that enhance human life by designing new products and things that make life easier and safer for everyone. Engineers are obligated to use their skills, intelligence and apply their knowledge to promote human welfare. An example of this has been the advancement of communications. Instead of sending a letter to a family member or loved one by pony express, now one can send mail in just seconds through e-mail. This technological advancement makes it easier and better to communicate that is satisfying to humans. These advancements in the long term will have small constraints, but in the short term there're broader constraints and limits. Email about five years ago could only be accessed through internet service providers such as: AOL, Prodigy, CompuServe, TexasNet, and institution accounts. Now email can be retrieved and sent over the internet without having these big name internet service providers. There are now services like Yahoo, Hotmail, Rocketmail, and Juno that offer free email accounts over the web for any one. Within the past few years, technology has allowed email users to send voice and video emails, which was impossible before. Email still has delays ranging from a few seconds to a few minutes when you send your email over the internet. Ideally, these delays still represents a very fast relay suitable for all practical purposes in email. Email can have more of a real time relay in the future. There is also the possibility of your email not reaching its destination, which we all have experienced at one time. Now we see less and less of our email not reaching our destination with the improvements of transmission lines. Higher bandwidths in these transmission lines allow for higher memory capabilities in our email. Email in the long run will be near a more real time instantaneous speed with the capability of higher memory. The frontier myth can be seen from the beginning technological advancement of communications. In 1837, while working independently from one another Samuel F. B. Morse and the two British engineers Sir William Cook and Sir Charles Wheatstone developed a method of sending an electronic message over a distance of several miles almost instantaneously. The implications of this development were enormous. For the first time in history, human beings had the means to overcome the obstacles imposed upon communications by vast distances. A "Virtual world" of human communications had just been born that was much smaller and could potentially be much more closely knit together than the "real" world. Though the concept of virtual place and time would not become part of the terminology of human thinking for almost another 150 years, the foundations were laid with this invention. It is significant that during this same period we were making rapid progress in conquering distance and time in the real world with advances in the steam engines, which powered ships and railroad locomotives. America's telegraph network grew up with and was often found alongside the rapidly developing network of railroad lines that began to tie the various corners of our nation together. The frontier myth influenced the expansion of communications into another frontier, telecommunications. While working on a device to enable hearing impaired individuals to hear sound in 1877, Alexander Bell developed a communications device that was to eventually be introduced into almost every American home and become available to nearly everyone worldwide. Definition of Sharecropping

Definition of Sharecropping Sharecropping was a system of agriculture instituted in the American South during the period of Reconstruction after the Civil War. It essentially replaced the plantation system which had relied on slave labor and effectively created a new system of bondage. Under the system of sharecropping, a poor farmer who did not own land would work a plot belonging to a landowner. The farmer would receive a share of the harvest as payment. So while the former slave was technically free, he would still find himself bound to the land, which was often the very same land he had farmed while enslaved. And in practice, the newly freed slave faced a life of extremely limited economic opportunity. Generally speaking, sharecropping doomed freed slaves to a life of poverty. And the system of sharecropping, in actual practice, doomed generations of American in the South to an impoverished existence in an economically stunted region. Beginning of the Sharecropping System Following the elimination of slavery, the plantation system in the South could no longer exist. Landowners, such as cotton planters who had owned vast plantations, had to face a new economic reality. They may have owned vast amounts of land, but they did not have the labor to work it, and they did not have the money to hire farm workers. The millions of freed slaves also had to face a new way of life. Though freed from bondage, they had to cope with numerous problems in the post-slavery economy. Many freed slaves were illiterate, and all they knew was farm work. And they were unfamiliar with the concept of working for wages. Indeed, with freedom, many former slaves aspired to become independent farmers owning land. And such aspirations were fueled by rumors that the U.S. government would help them get a start as farmers with a promise of forty acres and a mule. In reality, former slaves were seldom able to establish themselves as independent farmers. And as plantation owners broke up their estates into smaller farms, many former slaves became sharecroppers on the land of their former masters. How Sharecropping Worked In a typical situation, a landowner would supply a farmer and his family with a house, which may have been a shack previously used as a slave cabin. The landowner would also supply seeds, farming tools, and other necessary materials. The cost of such items would later be deducted from anything the farmer earned. Much of the farming done as sharecropping was essentially the same type of labor-intensive cotton farming which had been done under slavery. At harvest time, the crop was taken by the landowner to market and sold. From the money received, the landowner would first deduct the cost of seeds and any other supplies. The proceeds of what was left would be split between the landowner and the farmer. In a typical scenario, the farmer would receive half, though sometimes the share given to the farmer would be less. In such a situation, the farmer, or sharecropper, was essentially powerless. And if the harvest was bad, the sharecropper could actually wind up in debt to the landowner. Such debts were virtually impossible to overcome, so sharecropping often created situations where farmers were locked into a life of poverty. Sharecropping is thus often known as slavery by another name, or debt slavery. Some sharecroppers, if they had successful harvests and managed to accumulate enough cash, could become tenant farmers, which was considered a higher status. A tenant farmer rented land from a landowner and had more control over how the management of his farming. However, tenant farmers also tended to be mired in poverty. Economic Effects of Sharecropping While the sharecropping system arose from the devastation following the Civil War and was a response to an urgent situation, it became a permanent situation in the South. And over the span of decades, it was not beneficial for southern agriculture. One negative effect of sharecropping was that it tended to create a one-crop economy. Landowners tended to want sharecroppers to plant and harvest cotton, as that was the crop with the most value, and the lack of crop rotation tended to exhaust the soil. There were also severe economic problems as the price of cotton fluctuated. Very good profits could be made in cotton if the conditions and weather were favorable. But it tended to be speculative. By the end of the 19th century, the price of cotton had dropped considerably. In 1866 cotton prices were in the range of 43 cents a pound, and by the 1880s and 1890s, it never went above 10 cents a pound. At the same time that the price of cotton was dropping, farms in the South were being carved up into smaller and smaller plots. All these conditions contributed to widespread poverty. And for most freed slaves, the system of sharecropping and the resulting poverty meant their dream of operating their own farm could never be achieved. The system of sharecropping endured beyond the late 1800s. For the early decades of the 20th century it was still in effect in parts of the American South. The cycle of economic misery created by sharecropping did not fully fade away the era of the Great Depression. Macroeconomics of Financial Markets Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2250 words

Macroeconomics of Financial Markets - Assignment Example Foreign businesses that would like to purchase goods in the US have to convert the currencies they have into US dollars. However, a rising dollar makes the foreign businesses to use much of their currencies to obtain a unit of US dollar. Thus, the foreign businesses will use more US dollars to obtain a product in the US. This means that businesses in the US that export goods and services will prefer a rising dollar. As the dollar rises, they obtain higher amounts for the goods that they export. This would be the same for a European tourist who comes to the US to visit the Grand Canyon. The tourist will have to change the European pounds that he or she has for US dollars. However, in case the dollar is rising, it means that the value of the dollar is declining. Thus, one unit of European pound will fetch more units of US dollar (Thomas, 2006). Therefore, the European tourist will obtain more units of US dollars. He or she will be able to access more products and services when he or sh e reaches the United States. Question Two The Fed can use various methods to create money. Creation of money refers to the methods that the Fed uses to manage the quantity of money that is in circulation in the economy. One of the methods is through open market operations. This refers to purchase and sale of United States’ government bonds (Ritter, Silber, & Udell, 2004). The Fed can buy government bonds from the public. This increases the amount of money in circulation in the United States. As the government buys bonds, it releases money into the economy. Alternatively, in case the Fed wants to reduce the amount of money in the economy, it can sell government bonds to the public (Mishkin, 2010). The sale of government bonds makes the Fed take money from the public and offers the public bonds. Therefore, the amount of money in circulation decreases. The Fed can use commercial banks’ reserve requirements to influence the amount of money in circulation (Burton, Brown, & Burton, 2009). Commercial banks must retain a given proportion of the deposits they receive. Thus, commercial banks cannot lend all the money deposited in their accounts. An increase in reserve ratio means that commercial banks will reduce the amount of money that they lend to the public. This reduces the amount of money in circulation. On the other hand, a decrease in reserve ratio requirement means that commercial banks can lend more money to the customers. Thus, the amount of money in circulation increases. The Fed can also influence the amount of money in circulation through the discount window (Thomas, 2006). Commercial banks usually borrow money from the Fed since it is the lender of the last resort. The Fed usually charges an interest whenever commercial banks borrow money. The Fed can increase the interest rate it charges to the commercial banks to reduce the amount of money in circulation. Alternatively, it can reduce the interest rate to increase the amount of money in cir culation. Finally, the Fed can make recommendations to the treasury so that money supply can be increased through printing (Ritter, Silber, & Udell, 2004). The Fed does not directly control money through printing or minting. The treasury prints notes and mints coins. This method can be used to direct the quantity of money in the economy. The most powerful method is the open market operation. However, the most commonly used method is the discount window or rate. It enables gradual reduction or increase in money in

Chinese One Child Policy

Chinese One Child Policy The one child policy of China has been a topic of discussion among many sociologists and economists for years and has been a very controversial topic since it was first introduced. The policy was first introduced in the year of 1980 and was phased out in 2015. Many people believe this was a good thing and perhaps others would disagree. In this research essay, the one child policy will be discussed. China has been a very controlling country for many years, they have been known to have many communism traits in their political and society. The one child policy which was introduced by China in 1980 shows the characteristic and clear illustration of how it has a vast power on its people and shows how its state power is very widespread. Furthermore, the state is in fact ruled by the Communist Party of China (CPC) (Retrieved Nov. 14, 2016, from Wikipedia.org/wiki/China). The Chinese one child policy only allows couples to have one child unless there are certain circumstances which are determined by the government themselves then they might be exempted. (Retrieved Nov 24, 2016, from www.theguardian.com/world/datablog/2015/oct/29/impact-china-one-child-policy-four-graphs). An example of one of circumstances is families who rely on farming as a source of live or income (Hartmann, B. (1995). Reproductive rights and wrongs: The global politics of population control. Boston, MA: South End Press.). I personally completely disagree with this policy as couples should have the right to conceive as much as they want, at the end of the day it is the way of life. I also disagree with this policy because it causes harm in terms of affecting the normal equality of both sexes in society as there could be a lack of males or females due to this. Also, it causes a lack of the younger generation. Moreover, as much is it people conceiving as many as they want could affec t the economy negatively, this one child policy also affected it negatively. 30 years ago, on September 25, 1980, Chinas one-child policy was formally introduced. In a letter from the Chinese Communist Party. Until that date, the government had strongly supported spreading the knowledge of birth control. But using it voluntarily was encouraged and not enforcing anything. China later enforced the law by keeping a very accurate track on the birth registers and those who had more than one child were made to adopt it. Moreover, couples who conceived more than one child were also given fines and were penalized on a very large scale. In some places the fine was a set amount whereas in others its based on a percentage of the violators annual income. (Perry, E. J., Selden, M. (2000). Chinese society: Change, conflict, and resistance. London: Routledge). People who voluntarily accepted the policy or were exempted from it and still agreed to it were sometimes privileged by being given perks such as free water, electricity, gas or a monthly stipend and other perks. After approximately 400m births being stopped and the population growth becoming far too slow, the one child policy was no longer enforced after 35 years as the Chinese government started to realise the lack of the younger generation was a side effect of this issue (Retrieved Nov. 14, 2016, from http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-34665539). It was realised that this policy was doing a lot of unpredicted harm to the people. China is now recovering its population by removing this policy with hope that these side factors will no longer exist. Meirong Liu and her family are just one example of the millions of families that were affected by Chinas one child policy. Liu always wondered while growing up why she never had a sister or a brother. This lack of a sibling eventually made Liu feel very lonely at times and had negative side effects on her. Other people Liu knew where also severely affected by this policy, they had conceived a second child and they lost their jobs because of it; she also claims she knows people who had to get an abortion. To conclude, now that the one policy has been removed it perhaps might be better for China as it is normal to be allowed to conceive as many children as you wish. Hopefully this will sort out the lack of the young generation and cause equality among both sexes. In the years to come I believe China could be back to a proper functional country and have more stability. References: Nprorg. (2016). NPRorg. Lord Byron’s Darkness Essay -- essays papers

Lord Byron’s â€Å"Darkness† Lord Byron’s â€Å"Darkness† illustrates a dark and pessimistic outlook for the world as we know it. The world loses all sense of hope and is left with only despair and darkness after the loss of the provider of thought and hope-sunlight. With the extinction of sunlight comes the destruction of social classes due to inevitable fear of death, and, as a result, all that is left is chaos. The psychological mind drastically changes its mannerisms and mode of thinking when faced with life and death situations. In the solitude of pitch-black infinite space, â€Å"men forgot their passions†-all values were lost, hopes and goals were put on hold, and only darkness existed. A world living in darkness was forced to displace its social classes and live one in utter darkness. All ...

Pocari Sweat Essay

This assignment deals with advertising and it’s concepts. So to start off we’d like to explain certain terms: Advertising is more than just a means of disseminating product information. It is a primary communication tool of our economic system and our culture. In other words it could be defined as † a purposive communication to a target market, which assists in selling by drawing attention to the characteristics of a product which will appeal to the buying motives of customers in the target segment of the market†. Advertising is mainly used for the following purposes: To support sales increase; To encourage trial; To create awareness; To inform about a feature or benefit; To create an image; To modify attitudes; To gain trade and sales staff support. There are three different kinds of advertisements: (1) Informative advertisement: This advertisement conveys information and raises consumer awareness of the product. These are common in early stages of the product life cycle. (2) Persuasive advertising: This advertisement is concerned with creating a desire for the product and stimulating actual purchase. This is mostly used for well-established products, which are in growth/maturity stages of the  product life cycle. (3) Reminding advertising: It is to remind consumers about the product or organization, or the benefits they (consumers) are receiving from buying the product. Advertising has an ethical and moral responsibility to deal honestly with its portrayal of society. Individual companies are judged by their own advertising, and the effectiveness of advertising is dependent on the overall attitude of customers towards advertising generally. (Q) What does advertising do for consumers? One of the most important roles of advertising is showing people how to solve problems. Effective advertising must start from premises, â€Å"Does my product help people?† The major trend in modern advertising is making the consumer the focus of the marketing process. Organizations find that starting with the consumer creates a relationship in which products are designed for the consumers rather than having to convince consumers that a preexisting product is the one they want. (Q) What does advertising does for business? Without advertising, businesses would not be able to bring new products to the attention of enough consumers fast enough to make the enormous cost of creating, developing, manufacturing, and distributing the products practical. In other words, advertising is both a tool and requirement of an abundant economy. (Q) What does advertising does for society? Advertising has both intended and unintended results. Obviously, the intended result of most advertising is to contribute to the profitable sales of product. In addition to its economic role, advertising revenues support a diverse and independent press system protected from government and special  interest control. As a key communication link in the process, it also is a major stimulant to vigorous economic growth and stability. However, there is a growing awareness that advertising must move beyond single-minded concerns with profitability. There is increasing agreement that advertising must be created in an atmosphere that considers a number of ethical factors. A recent survey of advertising agency executives found that they faced six major ethical considerations in conducting business: 1. Treating clients fairly; 2. Creating honest, no misleading, socially desirable ads; 3. Representing unhealthy, useless, or unethical products; 4. Representing clients whose products/services are unhealthy and unneeded; 5. Treating suppliers, vendors, and media fairly; 6. Treating other agencies fairly. It is to the benefit of advertising and society in general that ethical issues are in the forefront of discussion concerning the practice of advertising. Now that we have seen what advertising is and how it deals with various people and organizations it is easy to set the objectives of advertising. These are likely to be the following: To communicate certain information about a product. This is perhaps the most important objective. To highlight specific features of a product which make it different from the  competitors. The concept of the unique selling proposition (USP) is that by emphasizing a unique feature, which appeals to a customer need. To build up a brand or company image through corporate advertising. To reinforce customer behavior. Influencing dealers and resellers to stock the items (on as much shelf-space as possible). In case of government advertising. To achieve a policy objective. A successful ad: The content of an advertisement is determined largely by the objective of the advertising and the motivation of the potential customer. An advertisement should present information, which leads to a greater awareness of the product. It should be an attention-getter and may excite amusement or emotions such as fear, but inciting these feelings should not be allowed to be the only effect of the advertisement. Advertising will be most successful if the following conditions apply: a) The product should have characteristics, which lend themselves to advertising. 1. It should be distinctive and identifiable. 2. It should stimulate emotional buying. 3. If at point of sale a customer can refute an advertisement claim simply by inspecting the product, advertising will achieve no sales at all. b) There should be consistency throughout the sales operation. Advertising, the activities of salesperson and dealers, branding, packaging and pricing should all promote the same product image. c) There should be co-operation between advertising staff and all other  activities in the company. Product design, production, distribution, selling and financial operations should all combine to achieve customer orientation and maximum selling efficiency. After all the facts now let’s move on to our product and its advertisement. We have chosen POCARI SWEAT as our product. A Japanese company known as Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. launched Pocari Sweat in 1980. Under the company philosophy, â€Å"Otsuka – meaning – people creating new products for better health worldwide†, Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. is an R&D-oriented corporation with a central focus on pharmaceuticals and consumer products. Through innovative products, OPC hopes to make a difference in curing illnesses and maintaining people’s everyday health. The name POCARI SWEAT is a JAPLISH word (Japanese & English). ‘POCARI’ sounds relaxing, easeful, and light to Japanese people. It doesn’t mean any English word. We know that ‘SWEAT’ has dirty image in English. Then why did the company use such a word?† Actually ‘SWEAT’ has meanings of diligence, efforts, and refreshing ness in Japan, which shows their importance to work, their culture and belief. So that’s how the word came – POCARI SWEAT! Most of Japanese people call POCARI SWEAT as â€Å"POCARI.† We rarely call its full name. We suppose that people have western-like image to â€Å"sweat† especially; Since, POCARI SWEAT has been a very famous and popular name, they (the company) cannot change its name. This company also manufactures various other products like: Ornamin-C (Energy Drink), Calorie Meter (Diet Drink), Energen and Fast Break (energy drinks). Company Name Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. DID YOU KNOW The human body has a very high water content: 60% for the average adult, and approximately 70% for a child. This water component is known as body fluid, and contains electrolytes such as sodium and potassium ions. WATER content in a child and adult body. The composition of POCARI SWEAT is similar to that of our own body fluids. It contains just the right amount of those electrolytes – such as sodium and potassium ions – that our body loses when it loses water. It’s also gentler on our body and more easily absorbed than ordinary water. And it doesn’t  harm the important balance of body fluids. CONTENTS OF POCARI SWEAT Pocari Sweat plays a vital role in human body after consuming it. Every day we loose about 2.5 liters of water through urinating, sweating and breathing, while we intake approximately the same amount through food and drink. Body fluids automatically regulate this loss and intake of water: balancing the two is vital to the maintenance of a healthy body. Pocari does just that after playing sports, working out in a gym, practicing yoga or long tiring dances lessons. This will be clear from the following diagram: Graph showing daily loss and intake of water in a human body Now that we have seen various graphs that how dangerous can it be if we loose water in plenty. Well now that OPC (the company) has launched Pocari Sweat there is no fear of loosing excess water. Consuming Pocari not only gives a refreshing feeling but also prevents loss of fluid from our body. It will be clear from another graph, which follows: Comparison of how Pocari Sweat prevents the loss of body fluids The composition of POCARI SWEAT is similar to that of our own body fluids. It contains just the right amount of electrolytes – such as sodium and potassium ions – that your body loses when it loses water. It’s also gentler on our body and more easily absorbed than ordinary water. And it doesn’t harm the important balance of body fluids. This graph shows clearly the performance of POCARI SWEAT. POCARI SWEAT COMPETITION By now you’d wonder that who are competitors of POCARI SWEAT? Well the real answer according to Otsuka Pharmaceuticals is that POCARI SWEAT  real competitor is PLAIN WATER and not energy drinks! Many would disagree to it but it’s the truth. People would say that Pocari faces a huge competition with the energy drinks available in the U.A.E like the Red-Bull, Isostar, Blue Ox, Flying Horse etc. Well according the product agencies in the U.A.E. they mention that Pocari is not an energy drink but it’s a REHYDRATION DRINK. The product (Pocari Sweat) agents in U.A.E are AL MAYA LAL’S LLC. To prove the above statement that Pocari Sweat is a rehydration drink the following picture of Pocari’s can, which clearly shows it: In reality, Pocari Sweat is a rehydration drink, which is very similar to baby rehydration fluid. The label on the bottle clarifies: This close up is taken from the can Past advertisements Pocari Sweat had made many ads in Japan, which is shown mainly in other Eastern Asian countries, they were a huge hit there but the company have failed to make an impact with them in the Western countries, that is why the product is not much known and the popularity is not much as it have in Japan and other neighboring countries. The companies previous ads were focused mainly on sports, they had many famous celebrities, models and artists in their ads, some of them are: Cindy Crawford (model), Nancy Adrew (stunt actress and model), Tikeshi (model), and Myo Chin Haut (model) etc. The concepts, which the company wanted to show people through its ad, were amazing and very creative, shot very beautifully under water. The first which showed two men playing tennis under water; the second big ad was during the Football World Cup held in Japan, which obviously had to be a soccer ad. Lately, the company has shot an ad keeping in mind how trendy and energetic are today’s teenagers; they have a skate boarder skating (which are attached with color cans), as he goes two and fro on the ramp it creates  graffiti. (This ad is not available on the net; the concept was taken from the following link: http://spotlight.iridas.com/200303/colorado) this site also contains previous football ads made by the company. In-short after our research we feel that the company and the agents of POCARI SWEAT in the U.A.E and the Middle East should emphasize more on advertising. The product is doing fine as we can see that most of our samples drink it after some activity, with 1-2 cans at a time, they find it really refreshing and energetic, and end up with the results as â€Å"good overall performance†. Cruelty to animals is commonly known as animal cruelty which is criminally negligent act that causes an animal to suffer pain or bein killed. If left to its own us humans would exploit animals without any regard to moral consideration. Judging by the increasing number of animals, these statutes have had little of the desired impact. Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Animal Cruelty Problem" essay for you Create order Over 9.1 billion land animals are killed in the United States for food each year. For most of them, their lives and deaths occur outside of the lawrs protection, with little thought given to the well-being of their lifes. In fact, many states specifically exempt farm animals from anti-cruelty statutes. This practice excluding agricultural animals from anti-cruelty protections is not unique to the United States. Rather, it is global, and it is resulting in animals suffering reaches an almost unbelievable amount. Diffrent states use diffrent definition to describe the cruelty. Examples of animal cruelty is, harming of any animals or endangerment the animals life is known as animal cruelty. Types of animal cruelty are,not getting your animal medical care when you know they need it, not feeding or watering, over feeding and watering them so that they bloat. Anything that causes harm to any animal can be reported and than you get a court date and they can even take your pets and send you to jail for a long time. Having to many animals in a home that do not have enough room to move is also a form of animal cruelty. Animal fighting is another form. The side effects of animals that have been in an abusive home or life style, have been known to no trust people so easily which makes them harder to find a home to. The animals that have been abused will always have their scars even if you cant see them. The scientist or the hunters that take the animals from their habitat they destroy the balance of t he ecosystem by taking the animals out of their home. Each time we lay our hands on the animals we are abusing them and we are losing their trust and we wont get that back ever. Animal cruelty is one of the biggest threats to an animas, habitat, life than anything else, so why do we put them threw this? Animals cruelty is unhuman and it makes those animals turn to the dark side and then we have aggressive animals and this is not the animals fault they are just protecting from us. With this in mind we still harm them and make them so scared that they will not trust another person to show them love, care and to not hurt them or hurt them. We have the responsibility to protect them and not let things hurt them and this is not the way we do it by leaving them on the side of the road or not feeding them or watering them. How would you feel if you got ripped away from the only family that you had and then put into a cage and then made to be in experiment and left in pain that ends up killing you? This is not what we should do animal cruelty is something that be nothing but a memory and this is not something to joke about. It is important to be aware of animal cruelty. Animals are suffering in two different ways. Those two diffrent ways are medical and personal or experiments. Examples of suffering in medical ways is like when scientists developed a vaccine against the blue tongue,a disease transmitted by midges that causes much suffering in animals such as cattle, and sheep. Catherine Dellortpoints out that animals used for these experiments are left in their cages to die without any pain relief, rather than being euthanized (page20). The scientist needed to test what they made for strokes. Catherine Dellorts discovers the baboons were seen in their cages hunched over unable to drink, chew, or even lift their heads( page 20). Even when we do it for personal reasons it is still bad. The night before companion animals animals are sometime starved or even over watered where they blot and than exploded. The fighting of any animals are aginst the law in some states, but some how they still find a way to have fighting rings, but the owners do this in th e expense of dogs they are tortured and they are trained to do this are even forced to fight where they just end up getting killed or killing other animals. When you go and use them to fight they become sckettish and this is not a good thing they might end up snapping and going after you are they will become mute and that is not something we want to happpen. Animals are being killed everyday for are own personal reasons. Like choking, beating, strangling,Downing, fighting, kicking, neglect abandonment, poison, stabbing, unlawful trade, unlawful trapping. Animals are killed for our selfish needs and wants. Those animals are used for our entertainment or the educational purpose. We are the other hand do not think of the side affects that have on the animals. We make them fearful and in the constent struggle of keeping a safe life. Those animals that we use go threw their lives looking over their shoulder thinking that we are gonna be next or their the next ones to. Gender ended up being the biggest component for animal cruelty. It is separated into two categories female and males, but males are the worst. In 2006 the ASPCArs men and women pursued cases in New York City made a record, one hundred a cases and sized two hundred ninety-nine animals in connection with their investigations. Almost all abusers are males.. In a study of sixty- seven college undergraduates, male students were nearly four times more likely than females to report abusing animals as children or adolescents. Slightly more than one- third of males (34.5%), but just fewer than 10% of females (9.3%), reported that animals had been cruel to animals. That are two hundred and fifty-six cases from males and only sixty- five cases for females. The total number of cases that only have males perpetrators is four hundred seventy- four. The number of males and females perpetration is eighty- seven. Animals are in painful situations all the time. Fighting and testing on them are examples are ways the animals live painful lives. Testing on them makes them costley looking over their shouldersin feear that are go to come and test on them. When testing the scientist are suggested involved in often downplayed and they allege extreme levels of cruelty inflicted upon animals. The experiments can involve drawing, suffocating, starving and burning, blinding animals, destroy their ability to hear, damaging their brains, serving their lambs, crushing their organs, inducing their heart attacks, and ulcers, paralysis, seizures, and forcing the animals to inhale tobacco smoke, and drink alcohol, and ingest various drugs. When this happen we are destroying the food chain and throwing the food chain all out of balance. Each time that we do we make them shut down and it dose not help use gain their trust. When we use them as bait for a fighting it endangers their lives and thats not what we should do. A total of fifty-three cases of fighting with animal. That number should be zero. They are used for our personal and selfish reasons. What about the animals personal benefits? When we use them for our personal purpose they are unaware of what they are about to be exposed to. Everyday of every minute of every second of every hour they are put threw these painful situation and then they have to deal with the side effects and it hard for them. Animals that are experiment on have side effects that make them claw at them self. Or they are also have been known to have hallucination nations that make them act out. The animals in the experiment are also known to get very aggressive or they might get so depressed that they do not eat or drink. They will basically starved or dehydrate themself because the animals are in pain or they associate the food and water that the scientist give them. Because they associate it as something that is going to hurt them and they do not want any of it. Theses aniamls that are used for our personal or medical selfish reasons are not our personal guinne pig. Every time that we do it makes the balance of world go off of balance. We are destroying their lives leaving them to die in pain. We might not care but what about their familys. Just because they are animals, manmals, like dogs, birds, sheep dosent mean that they are gonna be upset. They are even more pain then what them involved in the experiments are used for this is no the right thing for use to do. If you was in this situtation would you want someone taking your children or moms, father grandmas, grandpas or aunt, uncles and experimenting on them and killing them. Or living in constent fear that you are going to be the next on to be killed ir used for personal shelfish reasons it not the right thiing as human beings to do, but we end up doing it and not even feeling guilty that we ruined their lives or their family i hate that this is not going to be able to see their family me mebers again. This is why it is imporant that we have to be aware of animals crulitey because we cant be going and expect to have animals to be using if we kill off all of the animals it not right of use to be so cold hearted and so inhumane that keep doung these stupid experiments and i ahte that we have this happening we all could do alot better to be more awaree of our surrounds and not have them fearing to have their lives being killed or taken away from them and i can not beleive that we are in this cold hearted society that is okay wiht baby animals and grown animals being used to kill them for our personal or medical or even interament reason because we have so boring lives that we think that if we take their lives that our lives would be better and we might be happy. But what about them if we keep this up there wont be anymore chicken.cow.pig.hog.deer,bird and then what would we do use hummans for the experment that is not right we are disgraceful people and i hate to be apart of any of th is. Awareness in the most imporant thing to be aware of in this world. Why do we have to be like this when we can be so much better?
